Melmac Monday: The Blues

Hey all! Happy Melmac Monday!

I want to thank everyone for the best wishes on my sermon this past Sunday! It went really well, a little short, but I got a lot of positive comments. I'll post the link soon, if you want to hear a listen!

Lately on Etsy, there has been a lot of robin's egg/Tiffany's/turquoise blue, which I REALLY like, so I thought that I would share those today.

tiffany's blue.

turquoise - take two.

Pull Your Boobies Up!

Hey everyone! Hope that everyone is having a fantastic start to the weekend.

Since, I'm writing this at 12:15 in the morning,  I don't know if I can count Saturday as today or tomorrow, since I haven't really been to sleep yet. Oh well! It is the college kid coming out in me.

Anywho - Yesterday (Friday) Amy and I met up with our friend Melanie at Hershey Park and we had a blast catching up! Love having some gal pal time!

Today (Saturday - after I get a couple hours of shut eye) I'm going to be spending my day, cleaning and finish writing my sermon. That's write folks, I'm writing a sermon because I'm preaching this Sunday, as part of my internship. I'm more than a little nervous. I was talking to Gail, our lovely  and hilarious church secretary, the other day when I really needed a pep talk; I wasn't sure that I was able to write my sermon - the juices just weren't flowing. She said to me, "Laura, you are going to do just fine; it is just like writing a paper, but you don't have to worry about grammar or spelling!  So, pull your boobies up, and get up there and write your sermon!" She made me laugh so hard, and I went upstairs and got two pages written! Now, I just need to add a little, edit it, and we should be good to go. Maybe I'll share the audio on here, if you guys would like to hear!

I just realized that there are pretty many pictures on this post.  I think it is because I am so IN LOVE with this outfit. Seriously. If I could wear a version of this outfit everyday for the rest of my life, I definitely would. I just found these shorts on a recent thrift trip; it was half price Monday and they were less than $2! I have been looking for a pair of high-waisted shorts for awhile and these are just perfect.

Shirt - Thrifted
Shorts - Thrifted (originally J. Crew
Sandals - Payless (old)
Hair Bow - Thrifted - it is actually a bow tie; I also got it on half off day. What is half off 25 cents? 12.5 cents. Awesome and classy. :)
Necklace - Thrifted
Watch - It was my grandpa's actually! I wanted an "old man" watch since I pinned this; so my grandma let me look through some of the watches my grandpa had before she sold her house.

Okay. I really need to stop watching American Pickers and get to sleep.

Oh! Thanks to Miss Becky for taking these pictures at her house. :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Give Me That Becky

Hey everyone! In case you haven't figured it out already, this lovely lady is not me. This is my best friend Becky. We have been best friends for a LONG time. I found my Xanga from freshman year of high school recently and I laughed at how a lot of things have changed. But the one thing that remained the same? Becky.   I don't know what I would do without her. We have been through so much together and I'm so glad that we get to spend a little time together over the summer, even though we are both crazy busy.

The other night we had a much over-due sleepover at my house. She suggested a wonderful idea: I should style her outfit and while she styled mine. It was loads of fun, except for one down fall. It was just about to storm when we took these so the lighting is a little off. I spruced them up a little thanks to Pixlr O-Matic

I'll be sure to have her back for a Friend Fashion where she can style herself soon. :)

For some reason the picture above is my favorite; it reminds me of a paparazzi shot from the 70's.

Dress - Becky's - H&M (I think)
Shirt - It was mine; I got this at a yard sale for 25 cents, but it didn't fit right, so I gave it to Becky.
Belt - This was also mine; I got it with another dress, but it looked better on her, so it is her's now.
Shoes - Mine - Thrifted - She LOVED these. (Sarcasm. They were about a half size too small. Oops.)
Headband- Mine - Ann Taylor
Necklace - Mine - It was a hand-me-down from my mom. It is an old cut out dime. (I also wore it here)
Purse - Mine - Thrifted
Ring - Mine - From the Dominican Republic

Be sure to check out my outfit over on her blog soon!

Laura

P.S. This post's title isn't me being creepy. One time we had Youtubed (don't think that is a word; oh well!) just to see what came up and this is what came up for "Becky." Yeah. It is pretty bad. But HILARIOUS.

I don't really know if that proved my lack of creepiness. Crap.

Melmac Monday: Go This Way

Well. My brain is completely shut down today. Maybe because I went on an epic thrifting trip with one of my high school interns today.

Anyway. Took these pictures at a sort of a sketchy part of town (didn't realize that it was sketchy until afterwards), but I really liked it. Lots of old abandoned buildings and cool things like that. I can't wait to go back there (with a buddy!) to get some outfit photos.

These lovely brown pieces of Melmac were a part of my grandma's collection and I really like the color; it is very different.

Well, I'm off to watch some sexy Teen Wolves take down creepy mythical creatures with my gal pal, Maggie. Yeah. It is our summer guilty pleasure.

Have a great Monday everyone!

A Peek into my Purse: Gold Edition

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I thought I would give everyone a peek into my purse. I just got this bag last Saturday at a yard sale for .75! It was a great find and I have been using it a lot. It surprisingly can hold a lot of things.

1. My Vera Bradley wallet and keys; you can see my lovely (sarcasm) school ID there. 2. An adorable note from my niece. 3. One of my favorite belts. 4. Tums. A necessity sometimes when you are eating out with the family. 5. My favorite Honey and Milk Nivea chapstick.   6. My cellular device. 7. My Zune and headphones. 8.My CoverGirl Wet Slicks with Crest mint that I got brand new at a yard sale for a quarter. Great deal! 9. Bobby pins. 10. A really awesome pen supporting a fellow Brethren college, Bridgewater. 11. A receipt from a family ice cream outing.

How cute!?

Hope you enjoyed this peak into my purse!

Those Summer Nights

Hey everyone! Let me just say, straight up, I'm in LOVE with these pictures. My gal pal Becky took these pictures for me and I just adore them! (She also took these photos here and here. Check out all her lovely shots on her Flickr.)

I'm really glad that she and I got to hang out together; we always have a blast (just look at that last picture - cray cray eyes!) Now that we are both done with our crazy life travels, hopefully we will get to hang out more before we head back to our schools.

Dress - Thrifted - Simply Vera: Vera Wang
Shoes - Payless
Necklace - Gift from Amy
Belt - Thrifted
Purse - Thrifted
Ring - Bought in the Dominican Republic
Sunglasses - ??? I really don't remember.

Hope that everyone has a fantastic summer evening. I'm going out with one of the ladies' groups at church for some ice cream and mini golf! Yay!

 xoxo,

Laura

P.S. Yeah. You knew this was coming.
