Pretty in Pink

Hey all! I'm back!

I didn't really mean to take that little blogging break, but then I never seem to. It is just that time that school just has to take over everything. But, hopefully things are going to calm down a little bit.

Here are somethings that have been going on lately that have been keeping me so busy:

1.) School (of course): My classes are a little but nuts this semester, but it is my last semester of classes before I start my...

2.) Professional semester! I finally have a placement!! I'm super excited. I will be working for a local agency that focuses on partner abuse and sexual assault.

3.) HerCampus: I have been writing for a national blog for college girls. My campus has their own chapter. Here and here are some examples of my articles.  I'm really pumped about it - I think it is really fun to have all these writers on campus come together.

4.) THE HUNGER GAMES. Oh my word! I went last Friday at 12:15 am - our class rented out the theatre, so we could see the movie for $4. IT WAS SO GOOD. I was definitely not emotionally prepared for that. I can't wait to see it again with my cousin over break.

5.) My paper: Oh! I'm also working on a scholarship paper for (drum roll) graduate school! I wasn't planning on going to grad school right after my undergrad, but if this works out that my change. I'm a little nervous about, so if you could say a little prayer for me that would be spectacular.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday - especially all my fellow Northeasters. This weather sucks, huh?

Friend Fashion: Silvia

Hello everyone, I hope that you are having a lovely day!

I'm so delighted to introduce you my friend Silvia - she really just is the bees' knees. I have loved getting to know her since she transferred to school last semester! And she just has the cutest style - she and I have gone thrifting/yard saleing multiple times already this semester and we always have a blast.

Enjoy getting to know Ms. Silvia!

Name: Silvia

Age: 22

Major: German and International Studies

Hobbies: I love to read and write poetry, bake, and complain about politics.

Favorite quote: I don't have one! But here's a snippet of a Richard Siken poem, Snow and Dirty Rain: “Here I am leaving you clues. I am singing now while Rome burns. We are all just trying to be holy. My applejack, my silent night, just mash your lips against me. We are all going forward. None of us are going back."

Favorite Movie: The Princess Bride

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Hopefully a big city, Berlin or NYC, with people I love. In the best case scenario, there will also be kittens.

Describe your style: A risque grandmother.

Favorite places to shop: Thrift stores and other people's closets (especially my sister's).

Favorite thrift store finds: All my favorite old-lady shoes from thrift stores - including the ones I'm wearing in the shoot!

Biggest Fashion Mistake: I really liked fedoras for a while there but never had the guts to wear them in public so I don't think there are pictures. Bullet dodged!

Whose style do you most admire?
Miss Laura Whitman! (Laura's note: Aww, shucks!) Because she is always so gorgeous and feminine and freakin' thrifty. Her clothes are really fun and make me want to take more risks and wear more skirts.

Favorite memory involving Laura?
She talked me into buying a big poofy retro dress that is probably going to be my wedding gown; also gushing over Pyrex!

Jeans: Weekday
Shoes: Thrifted

Thanks Silvia for spending such a lovely day with me getting these shots and answering all these questions. You are such a doll!

xoxo,

Laura

Halloween 2013

Hey all - hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend!

This year I had not one, not two, but three Halloween costumes. A little bit of an overkill, maybe, but I need one for:

- trick or treating - passing out candy, not collecting it!
- the 1920's themed murder mystery party that my house hosted - I'm definitely going to do another post about this party because it was so much fun.
- and an outfit for the Halloween parties that were going on this past weekend.

So, here they are! Sooooo much better than last year, that's for sure.

My housemate and I as Belle and Mulan.

I was a moll for the night!

And finally, Amy was a Big Mac while I was Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter - also known as the scariest woman ever.

"One must not tell lies."

Hope that everyone had a wonderful Halloween!
