Fearless Fourteen: April 7-15

I'm posting this a little late, but I had a 10-12 page paper due today - my longest one of the semester. But it is done and turned in now - thank goodness.

So, here has been my past week plus a couple of days!

April 7: I finally finally FINALLY found a jean jacket that I absolutely love! I have been wearing it pretty much non-stop.

April 8: Social Work Advocacy Day at the State Capital.

April 9: I have been reading this book lately and it is so good.

April 10: One of my favorite necklaces. It used to be my Mom's, buuutttt, I kind of stole it.

April 11: Empty Bowls night! One of my favorite fundraisers on campus. People make ceramic bowls all year and then local restaurants donate soup. you get to pick a bowl, eat some yummy soup, and then the proceeds go to the local food pantry.

April 12: MY BIRTHDAY! It was our Relay For Life (as you saw here), so yes, I wore a tutu for most of the day.

April 13: It is PB egg season again. Yum.

April 14: New shoes.

April 15: Finally found my Pittsburgh postcard that I have been looking for. Makes miss this trip and all the lovely ladies that I met.

I Don't Know About You...

But I'm feeling 22!  (that song was - and still is- on repeat today!)

That's right people - today was my birthday!

And it was such a great and wonderful day - the weather was gorgeous and I got to be outside for my campus' Relay for Life - Disney themed at that!

I was a little mopey earlier in the week about the fact that everyone was going to be busy on my birthday, but honestly I wouldn't have changed this day; it was a magical! I got to hang out with all my friends outside and help with their thrifting stand - what more could you ask for?

Also, today I wore a tutu and fairy wings, sang Disney songs at the top of my lungs, and got really excited about watching Frozen on the quad. That's what all 22 year-olds do, right?

Oh in case anyone is curious, my shorts were thrifted, my top was my momma's from back in the day, and my headband was stolen from a friend.

The Tale of The Three Brothers

I have been looking forward to this post for quite awhile: I planned this outfit very particularly. I got this Harry Potter inspired shirt at a clothing swap last year and have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to wear it.

So, without further a do, I would like to share with you my first tattoo! I actually got in December, but I wanted to wait until it was fully healed. I love it so much. Sometimes, I forget about and look down, see it, and get excited about it all over again.

For those of you who might not know, this symbol is called the Deathly Hallows from the Harry Potter series. It comes from a tale that is embedded in the final Harry Potter book. (Here is the amazing video from the final movie).

I know that some people might find it a little silly or stupid to get a tattoo of something from a book, but the Harry Potter series are important in my life for a multitude of reasons.

There is of course, the basic reason that the lesson behind the famous series includes the importance of friendship and love. One of my favorite quotes from the last books is spoken by Dumbledore, saying "Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living and above all, those who live without love."

It also reminds me of my childhood and the importance of reading. While my mother never really understood why I wanted to read the books, she never said I couldn't read something - something that I never really appreciated that  until I was older and realized how that impacted my life. If I was restricted from reading something when I was younger, reading wouldn't have been something so meaningful in my life and who knows how much life would have been different.

Because of these reasons, my first sermon two summers ago was heavily influenced by Harry Potter. It was called "United by Love: The Power the Dark Lord Knows Not."

So, I thought about this tattoo ideas for a while - well over a year. Then towards the end of last semester, my friend Kara and I were in a talent show at school where we performed a song in sign language. When we were practicing, I was joking saying, "if we win, I'm going to use my half of the money for my tattoo!" And then we won. So, over Christmas break I took a giant breath and got it!

Now, I love it and it has already become a part of me. I'm sure you'll see it again in other posts - and maybe my skin won't look so dry and red from the longest winter know to man here in PA, but I knew something this special needed an extra special post!

Do you guys have any ink? Leave me a comment, if so or if you are planning something soon!

Shirt: Clothing Swap
Skirt: Vintage: Thrifted ($3.50)
Belt: Vintage: Thrifted
Tights: Who knows?
Boots: Kohl's (Christmas Present)
Earrings/Necklace: Thrifted

Oh, because you can get a Harry Potter themed tattoo without pretending it is the Dark Mark.

Fearless Fourteen: March 31- April 6

March 31: Getting ready for Sexual Assault Awareness Month by hanging these bows on parking meters around town.

April 1: It is finally front porch weather! Some tunes, sunshine, and a good book and I am one happy gal!

April 2: This lovely lady is back for a little bit! Which means we go to karaoke night (and take selfies).

April 3: I really love this movie. Not as much at the book, but still...Ian. Am I right?

April 4: We took a field trip to the most amazing Christian bookstore ever. The guy who owns it is hilarious and inspiring! I could have went a little overboard, but I left with a Jane Austen devotional and "Faith Unraveled" - which I started and is awesome.

April 5: Church rummage sales get me every time.

April 6: Melanie is the cutest. She left this adorable vintage scarf in the lovely shoes that my friend Hannah gave me, because my birthday is coming up and it matched. I have such amazing friends.

Fearless Fourteen: March 25-30

Hey peeps!

I just realized that this was supposed to be posted late Sunday night, but it never did for some reason? And this week has just been completely crazy, I didn't even notice. (Can you tell that graduation is getting closer?) Anyway, just grab a time machine and travel back to Sunday night. Thanks.

Hope that everyone had a stellar weekend - I had a blast, getting a weekend away at my friend's house. Lots of chocolate, giggles, movies, and thrifting.

But, alas, it is back to the grind tomorrow.

And again, I have been a bad blogger - and haven't posted this past week. I will get better. Maybe? Possibly? One of these days? Hey, summer is coming! oh gosh, summer is coming - that sentence just created the deer in the headlights look. #seniorproblems.

But, I do have a stellar, amazing, and lets just say supermegafoxyawesomehot post coming. I was going to post it on Friday, but I was watching the old 'Airplane' movie (wasn't impressed) really late with my housemates and wasn't making much sense. And this post is so great I want it to be perfect. No pressure, Laura.

So, keep your eyes peeled for that this week and enjoy these little snippets of my week.

March 24: These things are so addicting.

March 25: A book I'm reading for a paper I need to do. It is really good; it helps when you read something interesting for homework.

March 26: I had a long day. Oreos were on sale. Coincidence? I think not.

March 27: My lovely friend Alexa having a cookies and milk date with me.

March 28: what do most 20 something's do when they have a weekend away from school and work? I don't know about most, but we play the newest Nancy Drew video game.

March 29: snatched these beauties up at the my friend's local Goodwill. You know what that means Melmac Monday is coming your way! (And yes in my head that sounded like MotorMouth Maybelle. No shame.)

March 30: Bridal shower day for one of my lovely housemates! I actually tied for second place! (Oh, the answer to #2 is a joke; my pals and I said if we didn't know the answer, we would put 'Jesus,' because who can say that is wrong?) ;)
