Melmac Monday: It Looks Like a Butt

Merry Christmas Eve all! 

Hope that everyone had a joyful and triumphant weekend; I did some last minute shopping, went to see a Hershey Bear's game, and watched some more Christmas movies. 

I can't believe that tomorrow is Christmas! I have some major wrapping to do tonight once I get home tonight. I keep praying that it doesn't snow, so that I can actually get around safely. 

See, I'm house sitting for about the next week, so I'll be driving the 20 minute  distance to my parents house.  I  also realized that I didn't bring any nice clothes for the Christmas Eve service tonight. Thank goodness that my fave thrift store is right down the road and actually open today. Hopefully I can find something festive today - keep your fingers crossed for me. 

In regards to this lovely Melmac piece, I got this for a little over $2 when I was thrifting with my mom last Monday; I squealed when I saw the pink tag on it, which meant that it was 50% off! Yes! 

So, when I went to Becky's house for a photoshoot (pictures soon to come), she let me use her camera for a couple shots of this lovely orange tray. 

While I was quickly getting some shots (it was COLD), she says to me, "You know, that kind of looks like a butt." 

Therefore, from now on whenever I use this tray, I will always think of her and laugh. 

Life Lesson: A good friend will compliment your thrifty find; a best friend will compare it to awkward body parts. :)

A Very Thrifty Christmas

Hey everyone! 

Hope that you are having a fabulous Friday! 

Recently, I participated in A Very Thrifty Christmas gift swap that was hosted by the lovely Sandra over at Lara's Vintage. 

She set up partners to shop for each other; the only condition that everything had to be second-hand, whether it be from a thrift shop, yard sale, estate sale, etc. Oh, we also had a budget of $25: gifts and shipping. 

I received the lovely momma blogger, Sara, who has the most adorable toddler ever!

These are the adorable items I got in my package. I received this the day I got home from school. Best finals pick-me-up ever! 

Can't wait to style this necklace! 

I love this! My roommate is obsessed with bees, so I better keep my eye on it. Hehe. 

Even her card was thrifted! A gal after my own heart!

Keep the Change, You Filthy Animal

Hi everyone! 

Hope that you are having a wonderful Wednesday evening. 

These pictures were actually from awhile ago when my Digital Photography class went to Greenwood Furnace for a field trip. It was that first chilly day out, but it was such a beautiful place that I didn't mind so much. Plus, I really liked what I was wearing, so my friend Lola agreed to take a couple outfit shots of me (Thanks, chica!) 

I had a wonderful day today chilling with my best friend: catching up, making Teddy bear cookies, watching SVU, and of course taking pictures. 

I'm so blessed to have someone who really gets me and understands my weirdness. 

Well, I'm off to watch a movie. I'm thinking Home Alone for a couple of reasons: 

1.) It is one of my favorite Christmas movies. 

2.) It is the only DVD I have upstairs and I'm not going down to our super creepy basement where the other DVDs are because...

3.) I'm also home alone. My parents went to a Christmas party, so I'm right now in the same boat as Kevin McCallister right now; if two really stupid burglars try to get in, I may not have elaborate traps, but I have pepper spray.

Melmac Monday: All that Jazz

Hey hey, everyone! 

Hope that you are having a super fabulous Monday. 

Today was my first official weekday home for break and it feels so. WONDERFUL. 

I got to thrift, catch up on Glee, belt various songs on my Spotify, see my brother + sister-in-law, and just in general be a lazy bum. 

Ahh, Winter vacation.

Finals: The Time of Insanity. Literally.

Oh, hey everyone! 

Hope that you are having a great week. 

Because let me tell you finals week for us has turned into "the week where the most awkward things that could ever happen, happen." 

WARNING: Before you proceed, do so with caution, because besides pictures of two awesome roommates in the coziest sweaters ever, you will also be subjected to stories about a.) The Hunger Games b.) menstruation c.) general awkwardness

We have learned that we don't do well studying past midnight. Conversations like this happen:

L: (while writing a paper for Young Adult Literature) Ermahgerd, Amy! You know how the chick who wrote Twilight re-wrote the first book in the perspective of Edward?! Suzanne Collins needs to do that for the Hunger Games! I WANT MORE PEETA! 

A: Oh my gosh, you are genius! She could split it between Peeta and Gail! That would be AH-MAZING!

L: We are so smart. 

(5 seconds later)

L: Shoot. I forgot what I was going to type. This is why I never get work done. 

Amy, here. I had an awkward-yet-hilarious lady moment while Laura and I headed to our room for the night. We had just walked into the stairwell when I made an observation concerning my Aunt Flo (sorry, gents, it's a girl thang). As soon I spoke, I felt this strange presence in the stairwell. Lo and behold, campus police came a-walkin' up the stairs, and felt the need to say hello with enthusiasm! Needless to say, as soon as I reached the door I ran all the way back to our room!*

*Laura's note: With me dying with laughter the whole way behind her!

As if Amy's announcement to our public safety wasn't bad enough, the same day I ended up dropping an entire plate of food on myself and SOMEONE ELSE. And not just any food mind you, it was pizza and milk - aka the worst smelling combo ever. My life. 

We are so glad sometimes that no one has a glimpse into our dorm room. Because they would witness a lot of boot-ay shaking to Macklemore, freaking out over animal Youtube videos, wondering how in the world this could happen and being excessively giddy - especially when we talk to boys. 

Gosh, finals need to be over so we can at least better hide our craziness.

Melmac Monday: Another 'I Hate Finals' Post

It is Day Two of finals and I just want it to be over. This has probably been my worst finals in all of my semesters (Two papers, two tests, and a portfolio) and my motivation is alarmingly low. 

I just want to get home where all I have to worry about is if I want to play Uno or Phase 10 with my dad. Or if I want to watch Jon Stewart or New Girl. Or if I want to sleep in or if I want to have a thrifting/breakfast date with my gal pals.
