Melmac Monday: Reasons Why People May Think I'm Crazy (Part 2)

Okay peeps. Remember how I talked about some of my awkward moments before? Well. Now that I'm living in town, a whole bunch of people are open to my cray cray antics.

These pictures are the really the reasons that I have been getting the "whatthe--" looks lately. A lot of my Melmac pictures have been taken close to my house, but still, I'm still where people can see.

 Imagine this if you will: A girl with crazy look in her eyes (because I was losing light of course), with a crappy digital camera, sitting on the sidewalk with no shoes on taking pictures of dishes. Wouldn't the thought probably cross your mind to call the psychiatric unit? I got a lot of funny looks, for sure. 

Even just typing that whole scenario I realize how crazy that probably looked. Do I care? Nope, because these pictures got ballin'.


My mom - even though she is so sick of me buying more dishes - bought these for me as a welcome home present. The entire set is here too! I was SO frackin' excited. They were only 30 cents a piece! What a lovely and thrifty mom I have

P.S. Towards the end of taking photos of some other thrifty finds, because this guy drove (?) by sans the child. I felt less crazy then. (Note: all melmac pictures were taken by me, but the picture of the dudes in the firetruck was taken by my lovely bestie Becky for tomorrow's outfit post. I may or may not have seen the firetruck, started hitting her arm, and said "takeapicturetakeapicturetakeapicture!" I by "may or may not" I definitely did.)

Nifty and Thrifty Friday

T.G.I.F!

Today was such a lovely day! I didn't have to go into the office, so I stayed in my PJs till 11 doing laundry and then helped out at the local food pantry that has ties with my church. 

Then I caught up on the Glee Project and organized my Pinterest boards. 

I also took these pictures of some lovely thrift finds that I found lately that aren't really Melmac or clothes/accessories. 

This lovely Louis Sherry chocolate box I got at an indoor yard sale up at school for some ridiculously low price of 30 cents. They are from around the 30's apparently which is pretty ballin'. They are also relatively common from all the cheap listings on Etsy (check it out here). Anyway, it is a perfect fit to throw all my chunky jewelry that doesn't tangle. 

Also, I recently scored this amazing vintage suitcase for $2.60! Yeah-- that is only about .87 per piece! Fantastic. I used the little one when I went on the overnight to the mile long yard sale on the 4th. It really is a great size for overnight. And that hat box? So swoon worthy,  right? 

Well, I got to go my dad is outside my house honking; I'm off to go to out to eat with the fam! Have a great Friday night.

Melmac Monday: Cups in St. Louis

Hey all! I've been so slacking with blogging this past week. I really don't like only posting Melmac posts, but this past week it was inevitable. I have been so busy, going to a mile long yard sale with my sister-in-law and niece on the 4th - that was SO much fun-  working on Day Camp and preparing for Annual Conference in St. Louis! I'm here now and I'm having a blast. I get to see the Gateway Arch today, so I can't wait to show those pictures!

Melmac Monday: Mix-Matched

Happy Monday all! 

Today I'm sharing some mix-matched Melmac that I got up at a thrift store up at school. I liked the colors of the plates together, but there was only one cup. There wasn't a price tag on them, so I sort of nervously asked the owner what the price was, because that store was sort of price-y. She looked at the plates and said $2. And I'll even through the cup in." I was SO excited because this Melmac is really nice and durable, so 8 pieces for two bucks was fantastic. 

Today was just a fantastic day. My friend, Allison, came over for supper and a quick trip to the ice cream parlor. 

And then I pulled out a book that I got recently called "How to Speak Dutch-ified English" and we just laughed and giggled over the words and accents that we grew up around. I don't know if I ever talked about this before, but my mom's family is very PA Dutch and I we use a lot of words that are different. My grandma has a very strong accent and my mom's is fairly strong too. Even though sometimes I get so frustrated with the conservative area that I grew up in, I really do like my PA Dutch heritage. I really want to share some of those words, food, and customs of my family and the PA Dutch culture. I'll keep you posted. (Literally). =P
