EEEP...I'm no longer a teenager!

That's right, ladies and gents! As of 10:32 am this morning, I officially turned 20 years old!! :)

I know it doesn't feel any different, but it is still kind of weird to think about being 20; for some reason it sounds so much older than 19.

Above is one of my birthday party invitations which is tomorrow! Be prepared for lots of picture of that!

My aunt had gotten me a shoe calender for Christmas and this is "my shoe!" I think that it is pretty fitting; I would definitely wear it. :) 

Anyway, I I had a wonderful birthday! I only had one class so it wasn't very stressful that way. I hung out with some friends and just relaxed. I got to watch Despicable Me, which I love. I want a minion so badly. Overall it was a really good birthday, plus the spirit will continue tomorrow during my party!


My cousin had gotten my a badge that said "Queen for a Day." I felt kind of funny wearing it -- I felt too much like a cow at the Farm Show -- but I thought it would still be fun for pictures! :)

I just want to express my thankfulness to all the people who have supported and loved me over the past 20 years, especially to my wonderful family! I have had so many wonderful opportunities, experiences, and met great people. 

I know that blogging is only going to enhance that and I'm so excited to see where this takes me, as I step away from teenager-hood and continue into young adulthood!

Easter Festivities: A Season of Hope

Hey all! Hope that everyone had an amazing holiday! Sorry about the lack of posting; whenever I head home, I never seem to get in some posts. Usually, because I'm running around doing all sorts of things, such as seeing friends and family, church activities, and of course, thrifting. 

This is what I wore for church on Easter Sunday. Another reason that I don't really like posting at home is because I despise my camera. I'm so lucky to have a wonderful roommate who will take my outfit photos with her beautiful Nikon. When I'm at home, I must use my point and shoot. These didn't turn out too  bad, but it just took a long time to edit. I really need to get a new camera soon. 

 A little funny story about my belt: I had forgotten to take a belt home that really matched my dress. I had grabbed blue, red, and black, all which did not go with my vintage 1950's dress. Then I remember that I had gotten this pink belt at a thrift store really cheap (like 10 cents) because it was broken. I was hoping to fix it at some point (aka it has been sitting in my room, untouched since then). I didn't have time to find a buckle, so my mom and I put our brains together to make it work. We first tried a safety pin, but that kept coming undone because of the elastic. Then I suggested a bagger tagger. (I know that is a weird name for what most people call a twisty tie , but that is what my family has called it forever.) Anyway, I put my sweater over the top and it stayed all through church! Success!

And this is my wonderful older sister, Melissa! 

My mom made me a bunny cake to celebrate my birthday a little early. She has been making these for a long time, since my birthday is usually around Easter. 

And this beautiful lady is my Granny, the same one who made this shirt. The flowers that she is holding are very special flowers: my grandma's wonderful farm house, where my mom grew up, was destroyed in flooding this past fall. There was probably about 4 feet of water in her first floor. Thankfully, she got out way before the water reached her house. 

Anyway, she and my family are starting the process of going through things on the second floor.  My mom, sister, and I stopped on Saturday and I saw that these tulips had bloomed! My sister and I were floored, not   imaging that the bulbs would make it through so much rushing water. I decided that we need to pick the tulips for an Easter surprise for my grandma. 

My grandma, along with my aunt and uncle, moved into a new place and she is so happy.

These are more than just pretty flowers; they are a symbol of how sometimes, no matter how bleak it may seem, good things will still appear. These flowers are a symbol of hope and new beginnings.

Roommate Style: Libraries and Gray Tights

 Greetings all!

Let me just say that yesterday was a terrible awful no good very bad day. It was one of those days where nothing seemed to go right.










However, it got a lot better seeing that I had a lot of return emails from some lovely bloggers saying that they would be glad to guest post for me when I head to the Dominican Republic in May! I just sat there expressing my love for all of humanity, so pleased that some stylish and creative people will be able to share with my readers as I gallivant off to do some service work for two weeks!

These pictures are from last week when Amy and I went exploring and found the children's library tucked away in a small room among all the college stacks! It was so fun looking at all the books. I was in love with this old school mystery book, while Amy was taken with the Rainbow Fish.

Reading from the 1960's

Happy Sunday all! I hope that everyone's weekend was fantastic! I was a conference this week about multiculturalism, which is the reason of my lack of posting.

This week I got information directly from two graduate school while I was in Harrisburg on Tuesday and when I was at Millersville University this past weekend. And let me tell you, that is FREAKING ME OUT! I can't believe that after this semester, I will be half way through my college education. And then grad school/the real world is going to happen. That gives me such a queasy feeling.

Okay, moving on to a topic that doesn't making me feel like throwing up. Lately, I acquired two books from the 1960s! Aren't they both really awesome? I can't wait to incorporate them into my room decorations this summer.

This book is called "Meet John F. Kennedy" and was published in 1965. I absolutely adore the Kennedy's and this little kids book is just so very adorable.

I got this book recently at an indoor yard sale and was so very excited about it! I was even more excited when the lady said the price was only 25 cents!

Next is a McCall's Pattern Fashions magazine from Spring of 1969. My lovely cousin, who is also an avid thrifter, gave it to me! Some of the outfits/ads are a little bit silly, but a lot of them are oh-so-cute!

Because who wouldn't want a shirt to match their curtains and bed spread?

This black and white dress is my absolute favorite!

I might tear apart the magazine and frame some of them, but I'm not sure yet. If you have any ideas, let me know!

May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor

Hey all! Hope that everyone had a fantastic weekend and Monday!

I was in Harrisburg all day today for a social work advocacy event. It was very interesting and a lot of fun - I got to learn more about politics, how to lobby and advocate for my future profession, and  meet other social work students from other schools!



These pictures were from this past Friday night when I went out with some friends to see the Hunger Games. The local movie theatre  rents the place out after hours for fundraisers for different clubs on campus, so the movie only started at 12:15! Amy and I didn't get back to our room until 3am.


It was so funny though, because we were definitely on post-amazing-movie-high at 3 am. (I bet our neighbors loved us.) We were so pumped; we LOVED the movie. Did anyone else see it yet? What did you think?
